For Lug Co-Founder Ami Richter, the inspiration for Lug Apparel was pretty simple—and something a lot of us experience every day. It’s that feeling of coming home and just wanting to put on something comfy. At our house, we always say, “I want to get into my comfies,” Ami says. “That was the inspiration for this entire collection.”
“It was important to me when developing the collection that everything felt super soft—and really comfortable.”
The collection is full of sleepwear and loungewear you’ll want to wear around the house, but also everyday clothing you can wear out and about, like the Luggings—Lug’s ultra-comfy version of leggings. “I didn’t want that athletic feel where you felt like a sausage while wearing them,” Ami says. “I wanted them to feel comfortable and unrestrictive.”
It’s All in the Details.
Just like Lug bags, this collection has those special and surprising details—side seaming, a tuxedo stripe down the leg, even functional features like a holder for eyeglasses. “I always saw ladies looking for their readers and sunglasses,” says Ami. “We thought adding a loop on the strings would be a great solution.”
For Ami and others, it was also important that the collection didn’t feel like a departure from the Lug brand, but a natural continuation. That’s why you’ll find lots of your favorite Lug prints, and even some product names you’ll recognize—like Jitterbug, Ranger, and Tandem. “It’s all about carrying through that Lug DNA,” Ami says.
“Our goal was bringing some of that whimsy from our bags into our loungewear.”
